Applications to the Reach for Excellence scheme for students starting year 12 in September 2016 opened on Wednesday 14th September at 12pm. Students are now able to submit an application to the scheme on our website. Online applications will close on Friday 18th November at 12pm
The Student Talent Spotting Team are now recruiting the new cohort of students. To arrange for a member of our team to come and deliver a promotional talk about our scheme in an assembly, please contact the office on 0113 343 8471.
To be eligible for Reach for Excellence candidates must:
Be able to attend regular events at the university during the school holidays
Have the potential to achieve 3 or more A levels at grade B or above (or equivalent) and have the potential to be a candidate for study at a leading research-led university
Have gained 5 or more GCSEs (including Mathematics and English Language) at grade C or above.
Reach for Excellence applicants will need to meet two of the following criteria to be eligible for the scheme:
In the first generation of your immediate family to apply to higher education
Attend or have attended a school which achieved less than the national average 5 A*-C passes (including English & Maths) at GCSE
Only option is to attend a local university
Studies disrupted by circumstances in your personal, social or domestic life
Live in or grew up in public care
Live in a geographical area with low levels of progression on to higher education
In receipt of Free School Meals during your GCSE studies OR from a household with a gross income of £25,000 or below
